Just thought It'd be fun to pick out a song or band member or something every week and get everyone to share their thoughts, feelings experiences, knowledge about it.
For the first one I picked What Child Is This, a pretty rare song - anyone know when it was released and how? What I like about this song is that it borrows the melody from 'Greensleeves', except transposes it into 4/4 time. When my mum first heard it, she said it sounded like a funeral dirge with guitars - but then she doesn't know much about music.it is nice and mournful though - the melancholiness is what i love most about BL songs.
I was also curious about the words - it seems very nativity/Christianity based, is it a hymn or is it Paul's original work?

What Child Is This is a traditional Christmas hymn/carol to the best of my knowledge. Anyone know what album it was released on?

I completely understand that posting in this thread is a complete revival of it or thread necromancy which ever you prefer, but I heard Black LAb's rendition of What Child Is this? on the radio years and years ago and not only that I only heard it once. Yet I never forgot because I was already well aware of Black Lab. That being said every once in a while usually a couple times a year and especially during this time of year. I go on a determined search to scour the internet for any possibility of finding or purchasing this song. Today and many searches later that have all ended in failure after hours of time spent trying to locate it. I mean i can't even find the Christmas compilation it was on. Well the search brought me here to the boards. Wish i would've found my way here earlier. In any case it would be gretly appreciated if someone could help me find this track. Thank you very much and I look forward to contributing further on the boards.

Ah, Altoona. I am usually in the Reading area, so when I saw a fellow PA resident pop up, I was curious. Nice to meet a fellow BL fan in my state that I did not 'infect' first! :D

Cool, i've never really been in the Reading area, people forgrt how big the state really is by east coast standards. It's nice to meet you too, by the way i've done my fair share of infecting people in my area with BL as well.

Geez, BL covered What Child Is This? How did I not know that!? Can anyone tell me where I can find it and/or which body parts I'd have to sell to get it?
