I know there's somewhere a topic about the other bands we love.
But in this one, I would like everyone to let us discover some unknown bands that you love...

I begin, with my 2 great fav ones :

- Surfact : www.myspace.com/surfact (I've already told you about these guys !)

- Pound : www.myspace.com/poundonline

It's your turn...!

I second Surfact (thanks again Flo :D )

Guided By Voices no longer any more, but Rob Pollard is one of the greatest songwriters ever. Great tunes from the beautiful to the utterly random.

The Faint Imagine the Killers, but really angry...

Remy Zero Did the soundrack to Smallville... absoloutely top drawer...

Mew Slighlty surreal, but still totally incredible... Michael Stipe (REM) loves them apparently lol

Zero 7 Really sooothing electronica stuff... perfect to just chillax to 8)

Black Lab ... obviously...

Ooh, Remy Zero! Thanks Stoka for pointing him out, he is top drawer.

I'm a big fan of Ghost of the Robot - James Marsters' band before he went solo. Very distinctive sound. Love 'em.

Nickel are different and good.

I think my oddest unknown band is from the sixties. A Japanese group called The Spiders. If anyone's seen the (quite absurd) TV show Monkey: the actor (Masaaki Sakai) who plays Monkey is in the band! They're, well, interesting! Their cover of Johny B Goode is a real treat!!

Of course, there's Black Lab and Cake or Death!

Wow Nefertari... Ghost of the Robot are awesome! Managed to get hold of some of the tracks, as well as some of James Marsters solo stuff. I'd heard about it years ago but never followed it up. Thanks :D

I'm fairly involved in the Toronto independent music scene, so I can definitely vouch for some bands that are "unknown" outside of the t-dot.

some good bands to check out are Mellonova, The Atomic Ravens, Fine Motor Control, Sianspheric and of course, Fjord Rowboat

Little Man Tate fantasic new band... would compare them to Franz Ferdinand, but different and better in my eyes...

Hot Club De Paris Really different, and an amazing sound. Traks are awesome...

well i'm a pretty big Matthew Good (and Matthew Good Band) fan. Certianly no one over this side of the pond has heard of him, maybe slightly more known in north america. If you've never heard him, download "Weapon" or go watch the video on youtube, it's awesome

MGB was absolutely frickin' huge in Canada a few years back. Partially because of the music but also due to Good's out-spokenness about his dislike for a lot of other bands. Always a controversial interview.

I would say a good portion is because he is Canadian. =) Speaking of which I went and listened to some of your stuff Jon, its good stuff. I seldom get out to shows anymore but if I find the time I will make the trip.

Cheers
James
