I scanned through the forum and didn't see a topic like this, so I have to ask, what other bands does everybody enjoy? Of course we all love the Lab or we wouldn't be posting here, but what about everything else? Is it similar? Completely different?

My #1 band of all-time would have to be LIVE. I will be the first one to say that each subsequent album since 2001 has progressively gotten worse...but the music released on their first four ranks among some of the greatest music recorded as far as I'm concerned, especially 1999's The Distance to Here. I saw them for the ninth time since 1997 (I was 11!) a few weeks ago here in Columbus, along with Collective Soul. The reason I'm such a fan still is because I think they put on the best live show you'll ever see.

They're releasing their first official live CD and DVD this fall, so I'm pumped for that. The CD portion will also include brand new studio material that Ed says he's excited to share with the fans to give them a direction of where they're going with the upcoming 2009 studio release. Hopefully it'll be a throwback to the 90's but I won't hold my breath.

Collective Soul I'd probably rank right behind Black Lab. I was always a casual fan who enjoyed their radio hits, but when I saw them in concert for the first time back in '05, I was blown away. They're another band who sounds better live than they do on their albums, even though that's good stuff, as well. I was spoiled back in '05, seeing them three times between September and December. I didn't get to see them again until the show with LIVE a few weeks back and it was worth the wait.

And finally, I love me some Better Than Ezra. Their music may not be as deep as some of my other bands can be, but it's fun music. I always enjoy BTE when I'm looking to have a good time or I'm just cruisin' on the highway. Kevin is apparently working on a solo album which will be available by the end of the year. This will be followed by a long-awaited BTE album sometime in 2009 (which will have been a four year wait). I can't wait for these.

Toad the Wet Sprocket is another band I've always loved and their lead singer Glen Phillips still puts out great music. I was lucky enough to see the band on a reunion tour a few years ago. Gin Blossoms and Dishwalla are two more that get a lot of plays from me. Again, looking forward to the lead singer of Dishwalla, J.R. Richard's, upcoming solo album which he just finished mixing.

How about you guys?

Butch Walker

Stroke 9 - Great alt.rock 90s band that's still making music

Radford - If you're a Black Lab fan and haven't heard the album, "Sleepwalker" - do yourself a favor.

Thriving Ivory - Great, epic, piano rock, with a voice I find incredible (although it takes getting used to for some). Currently a VH1 "You Oughta Know" band.

Audrye Sessions - Recently signed to RCA, new album out sept. 30.

Anberlin

Innerpartysystem - Trent Reznor approves electro/industrial/catchy rock. "Don't Stop" is a great song for alternative radio.

Other bands include: Lostprophets, Marvelous 3, Jimmy Eat World, Graham Colton, Sugarcult, 30 seconds to mars, Thrice, Madina Lake, Acceptance, Dropping Daylight, Fountains of Wayne, People in Planes, Children 18:3, Lovedrug...

Aside from BL, I absolutely obsessed with Guided By Voices and Rob Pollard's solo stuff. The man is a pure lyrical genius, with tracks just pouring out of him. Some work, some don't, and that's what makes it so good.

My Dad always had Bob Dylan on when I was a kid, and I love it still. Also The Who, Rolling Stones, Neil Young...

I've always been a fan of Stereophonics. Kelly Jones' voice is so unique, and they have had a range of phases they have traveled through over the last decade, but it's all (for the most part) been fantastic.

Manic Street Preachers, U2, REM, Chris Whitley, Travis have all been solidly listened to for years.

I also love The Strokes... fathers of the modern guitar sound and, frankly, there is noone better. The Killers are another favourite, as are Arctic Monkeys and Kings of Leon. Also, Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz, The Good The Bad & The Queen) is an exceptionally talented individual... he recently wrote an opera based on the legend of Monkey, all in Mandarin, and it is very impressive.

Apart from that, I love digging up new things I haven't listened to before. I have something new every week that I dig up and play over and over. At the moment one of my favourites are Michael Lynch Revived.

Lol sorry I rambled again

BL is number one, no question.

Depeche Mode is next on my list. I like each new album better than the last. Martin Gore is.......yeah. I'd marry him.

The Cure was an obsession during my late teens, early 20's.

Nick Cave is great. His latest album is his best yet.

I'm also a big fan of myself. My drunken karaoke nights are legendary. I've done the entire Stevie Nicks catalog in one night......just don't ask me to sing a song by anyone else. The night I sang Britney Spears songs didn't go over so well.......

I'm a fun girl.

Agreed. If your a BL fan this should be right up your street. The following EP "Black Out The Sun" is also superb

Schaeffer - Another independent band that really really should be signed. Their album "Something Worth Fighting For" is not only an incredible album but the whole thing actually tells a story about a guys car crash and the consequences.

I also agree with pretty much everything J.Sax and S9Dallasoz said :) Can't wait for JR Richards solo album

Well, I love Black Lab, but my fav bands are actualy completely different: mostly metal. Though, someone said Stroke 9, and I love those guys too. I also love Collective Soul and Tonic.

Angra is my fav band ever: progressive metal band from Brazil. They sing in English by the way. Amazing musically and if you are a musician you will love it.

Luna Sea (japan), X-Japan, Zemfira (russia), Rammstein (germany), Raimundos (brazil)...non-english bands

Angra, Metallica, Metal Church, Iron Maiden, Ayreon, Gamma Ray, White Lion, Pearl Jam, Anacrusis, etc etc...

Too many bandsI love to list, but I go through different stages. though most is metal, there are non-metal acts I love (as you can tell).

Hugs and love,
Max

I gotta admit i really am into Coheed & Cambria lately. Loved Our Lady Peace before they got all political and preachy...now they just seem lost. Seether and Shinedown were damn good for awhile...it's hard to find new rock that doesn't suck since the radio plays the same tired pearl jam every five seconds and most people have gravitated away from myspace.
