There’s a lot of talk about the injustice of Spotify’s artist compensation.

There’s a lot of talk about the injustice of Spotify’s artist compensation. But every time you stream one of my songs I get paid, and this money makes up a significant portion of my income and my ability to keep making music.

Do I wish artists made more than $.003 per stream? Yes. Do I wish your subscription fee was paid out proportionally to those you actually listen to? Yes. Does Apple, Tital, etc. pay microscopically more than Spotify? Maybe.

But I’m a realist and here’s reality: Streaming is how I and most everyone else listens to music these days. I like Spotify’s interface so that’s what I use.

I love it that people have supported me for decades by buying CDs and downloads and vinyl. But I also love it that, even if you own a CD, you can listen to my music on your preferred platform. You’re basically supporting me twice.

Your streams add up, and I’m grateful for every single one.

So thank you for listening to my music on Spotify and other platforms!
